Clive Maximillion Arno is an mystery, shrouded in an enigma, wrapped in a Pit Bull. That is to say, very little known about him, and those foolhardy enough to delve into his private life do so at their own peril.
Internationally recognized as one of America’s foremost pin-up illustrators, Arno (as he prefers to be called) a native of Philadelphia PA., with no record of any formal training in art, he has been professionally involved in fine and commercial art, and erotic illustration for more than 30 years. His experience as an illustrator includes all mediums: oil, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, and pastel-with published work ranging from artist to photographer to author.
As best as we can tell, Arno began his career in the mid-seventies when met and created a portrait for burlesque queen Candy Samples. His success with Ms. Samples inspired him to meet and arrange pin-ups with: Trinity Loren, Ebony Ayes, Samantha Fox And Vanessa Del Rio.
It is rumored that Arno spent time in the U.S. Marines, this would account for sightings of him in Kowloon, Tunisia, Malaysia and Bogotá. We also have confirmed reports of him in Osaka, working as a bouncer in a bordello.
Returning to America, Arno spent the next decade honing his skills and working in the field of commercial art. He once again entered the arena of adult entertainment, creating comic book covers, pin-ups and magazine work. He then had the pleasure to illustrate portraits for Heather Hunter, Janette little dove, Jeannie Pepper, and Nina Hartly just to name a few.
However, again he disappears from the art world, only to turn up in Hollywood CA. where he worked as security for some of the most recognizable actors and entertainers for the next nine years before returning to art.
Arno currently resides in Phila. Pa., with his longtime companion Seiko. He has produced numerous contract paintings and illustrations for a variety of publishers. Much of his work has been reproduced as prints and posters, and may be obtained through his web-site.
