Tangent aka Roho Madhubuti

History: Tangent was born an African prince, heir to the Umoja Corporation; one of the largest farming corps within the Terran Alliance.
During the Corp War, Umoja was hit hard, more so one fateful day when the Madhubuti family was attacked while negotiating a trade agreement with one of the Nephtali Clans on board a space station. While attempting to get his family to safety in a shuttle, Tangent father was killed and his mother was injured. The stress of the attack activated Tangent’s phasing ability and he escaped without even a scratch. He and his mother were eventually rescued by the Nephtali and given sanctuary. Tangent’s mother fell into a coma as a result of her injuries.
He later learned through his cousin Jabari, that the ones responsible for the attack were members of Umoja’s board of directors, who now believed the Madhubuti family was dead. They took control of Umoja.
Wanting to avenge his father, Tangent began learning the fighting arts of the Nephtali. He had been a student of medicine before the attack and was able to continue studying medicine, although those studies were mostly centered in herbalist treatments. He had hopes of finding a way to bring his mother out of the coma.
After ten years, Tangent had mastered his paranormal abilities and martial arts skills. He returned to Umoja’s corporate headquarters, where with the help of Jabari, he was able to access the names and whereabouts of the board of directors. He tracked down the first of the board members and killed him leaving the body to be found with the message written in blood, “Time to Pay the Devil”.
In the following days two more board members were discovered similar messages written in blood near their bodies. Fearing the same would happen to them, the remaining board members increased their security. Tangent attempts to slay another board member, but is shot with a tranquilizer from a hidden bodyguard who in reality is Matrix.
Matrix takes the unconscious Tangent to a safe house. When Tangent regains consciousness, he discovers that he is bound by shackles, which nullify his powers and restrict his movements. Matrix tells him that he is aware of who Tangent really is. Tangent explains that these people are responsible for his father’s death. Matrix confides that he is working undercover to investigate the board of directors. That the board members are suspected of being in collusion with an Obi crime syndicate. Matrix needs the board members alive so that he can locate the syndicate connection. Tangent offers to help as long as they are able to bring down the board of directors and control of Umoja is returned to his family.
Matrix is able convince the remaining board members that the killer has been stopped and they are safe. Things return to normal within Umoja. With Tangents help, Matrix is able to collect enough evidence to expose the syndicate connection, leading to several arrests. The board members are arrested.
Tangent resurfaces as Roho Madhubuti heir to Umoja. He becomes the CEO and begins the task of reorganizing Umoja into the corporation it had been under his father’s leadership. After two years he had Umoja stabilized, but he realized that running a corporation wasn’t in him any more. He turned Umoja over to his cousin Jabari who was far better qualified to run Umoja than him.
Around the same time he had gotten word that Matrix was being hunted by the Hegemony. In the time they had worked together a bond of friendship had been forged. Knowing the kind of man Matrix is, Tangent didn’t believe Matrix would go rogue with out a good reason. Tangent headed for the alien sectors of space to try and hook up with Matrix. After four months of tracking, he caught up to Matrix and offered his help. They have remained comrades in arms ever since
