Bolt rendezvous with Soto at the point of entry, but when he sees that Valerie is absent he asks Soto where she is. Soto says that she was right behind him but that maybe Bolt should go after her. As Bolt is searching the installation, Soto sets off the alarms and escapes.

He is sentenced to 20 years in the maximum security prison on Pluto. After five years, he is paroled early for good behavior. One of the conditions of the parole is that he keeps the inhibitor, which neutralizes his paranormal powers.
Fresh out of prison, Bolt begins to look for Soto. While hunting for him, Bolt meets Matrix who was also searching for Soto. Matrix wants Soto because of his connection to Boa Dalekk, who is responsible for the deaths of his first Cadre team. Bolt agrees to team up with Matrix under the condition that once Matrix gets the info he needs, Soto is his to do with as he pleases.
Initially, the pair manages to track Soto down, but in an effort to escape, Soto sets off an explosion forcing bolt to choose between saving Matrix or pursuing Soto. Soto escapes while Bolt pulls Matrix out of the fire. With Soto still at large, Bolt agrees to extend their alliance. Matrix arranges for Bolt’s inhibitor to be removed and brings him into the Cadre.
